Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Sonrify is an independent product developed by Debasish Marndi and Saina Parween, two individual developers based in India. Our website is sonrify.in. We are committed to operating in good faith and in compliance with applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the IT (Amendment) Act, 2008, and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.

2. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy applies only to the sonrify.in website and its waitlist functionality. It does not cover data collected through the Sonrify mobile application. A separate, comprehensive privacy policy covering the app — including PDF upload processing, AI data handling, advertising SDKs, and subscription data — will be published before or at the time of the app's launch on the Google Play Store. By using the app, you will be required to accept that separate policy.

3. What personal data we collect (website only)

Through the sonrify.in waitlist form, we collect only:

• Email address — provided voluntarily when you submit the waitlist form
• Date of signup — recorded automatically at submission time
• Signup source — recorded as "Sonrify Waitlist" for internal reference only

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, device information, payment details, or any other personal data through this website. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, session recording, or behavioral analytics on sonrify.in.

4. How we use your data

Your email address is used exclusively for:

• Sending a one-time automated welcome message when you join the waitlist
• Notifying you when the Sonrify app is available on the Google Play Store
• Sending occasional pre-launch development updates (infrequent — a handful of emails at most)

We will never use your waitlist email for unrelated marketing, sell or rent it to third parties, share it with advertisers, or use it in any way not described in this policy without first obtaining your explicit consent.

5. Future monetisation and data disclosure

We are transparent about our plans. When the Sonrify app launches, it will be free to download and supported by in-app advertising, with optional paid subscription tiers planned for the future. Advertising SDKs within the app may collect device-level data such as advertising identifiers. All advertising partners and their data practices will be disclosed in full in the app's privacy policy before launch. Your waitlist email address will not be shared with any advertising partner under any circumstances.

6. Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you voluntarily submit your email address through our waitlist form. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

7. Third-party services used on this website

To operate this website and the waitlist, we use:

• Brevo (Sendinblue) — stores email addresses and sends automated emails on our behalf. GDPR-compliant. Their privacy policy: brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy
• Netlify — hosts our website and serverless backend functions. Their privacy policy: netlify.com/privacy

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other tracking or advertising technologies on this website.

7a. Third-party services used in the Sonrify app

The Sonrify mobile app (separate from this website) uses the following services to deliver its core functionality. This is disclosed here in advance for full transparency:

• Groq API — processes the text content of uploaded PDF documents using large language models to generate summaries, key topics, important points, and audio scripts. When you upload a PDF in the app, its extracted text is sent to Groq's servers for AI processing. Groq does not permanently store your document content beyond what is necessary to fulfil the request. Their privacy policy: groq.com/privacy-policy
• Kokoro AI — converts the AI-generated audio script into spoken narration via text-to-speech synthesis. The generated script text is sent to Kokoro's servers for audio generation.

Important: By using the Sonrify app, you acknowledge that the text content of your uploaded PDFs will be transmitted to and processed by Groq and Kokoro as described above. You should not upload documents containing sensitive personal data, confidential business or legal information, passwords, financial details, or any content you are not authorised to share with third-party AI services.

8. Data retention

We retain your email address until you unsubscribe, request deletion, or we complete post-launch cleanup of the waitlist. We do not retain personal data beyond what is necessary for the stated purpose.

9. Data security

We take the following security measures to protect your data:

• All website traffic is encrypted via HTTPS (SSL/TLS certificate via Let's Encrypt, auto-renewing)
• API keys used to communicate with Brevo are stored as encrypted server-side environment variables and are never present in publicly accessible code
• Access to email management systems is limited to the two developers and protected by strong credentials

Despite these measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately via Instagram @sonrify.

10. Your rights under DPDP Act, 2023

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

• Access — request a summary of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure — request deletion of your personal data from our systems
• Grievance redressal — raise concerns about how your data is handled
• Withdrawal of consent — unsubscribe or opt out at any time
• Nominate a representative — nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity

11. Children's privacy

Sonrify is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we become aware that we hold such data, we will delete it promptly. Please contact us via Instagram @sonrify if you have concerns.

12. Cookies and tracking

Sonrify.in does not use cookies, local storage for tracking, session storage, web beacons, or any other tracking technologies of any kind. We do not track user behaviour on this website.

13. Changes to this policy

We will update this Privacy Policy as Sonrify grows — particularly before the app launches, when a comprehensive app-specific policy will be added. Material changes will be reflected with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
